SAG NOIR by DON LENZER

Sag noir: a photo portfolio by don lenzer

From the prodigious talent of cinematographer/photographer Don Lenzer comes a photographic portfolio titled SAG NOIR, honoring the Sag Harbor Cinema‘s iconic place in our hearts. This boxed set of 14 works represents loving observation of the old Cinema after the fire of December 16, 2016. Lenzer spent long and careful hours going through the Cinema, finding an eerie beauty in its devastation.

Lenzer summed it up with this: “Sag Noir has brought me more joy and satisfaction than I could have possibly dreamed.
Out of destruction and loss came a lesson in generosity, kindness and community spirit.” The Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center thanks Mr. Lenzer for his extraordinary vision, invention & imagination in conceiving this stunningly original project.

This magnificent set of images, printed by artist/photographer Jane Martin with a frontispiece forward by Lenzer, is being presented in a clamshell box produced by the great bookbinder Paul Vogel. Each image is a loose photograph measuring 17 x 22“, suitable for separate framing. The entire boxed set is priced to start with initial sales at $7000, increasing to $7,500 as the edition of 20 sells out, and proceeds after production costs will be entirely donated to the Sag Harbor Cinema rebuilding effort.

NEW! Mr. Lenzer is now offering four individual prints for sale. These prints are priced at $1000 each, and are printed slightly larger than the complete edition at 20" x 30" each, with a 2" border, in an edition of only 10 copies each. They are also archivally printed by Jane Martin. Please write info@sagharborcinema.org if you are interested in purchasing the full boxed portfolio set or an individual print!

Proceeds after production costs will be entirely donated to the Sag Harbor Cinema rebuilding effort.
