Laurie Beckelman is a leader in cultural development, historic preservation, and nonprofit strategy, with a career spanning some of New York’s most significant arts and civic institutions. She recently served as Associate Director of The Shed, where she helped guide the project from inception—establishing its nonprofit structure, securing approvals, and shaping its fundraising and institutional strategy.

She is the founder of Beckelman+Capalino, advising major arts and cultural organizations including the Museum of Arts and Design, Dia Art Foundation, and Theater for a New Audience. Earlier in her career, she held senior roles with the Guggenheim Foundation, the World Monuments Fund, and the New York Landmarks Conservancy, and served as Chair of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
